Audio Book COYOTE SERIES (BOXED SET) with FREE EASY Reading!

After reading, and enjoying the Cedar Bay cozies by Dianne Harman, the Coyote series sounded interesting. Since it was significantly less to buy the boxed set rather than the individual books, I chose that option because I assumed I would enjoy the books. It was an interesting set because there was a connecting thread throughout. However, each book could have been a stand-alone. Had I not gotten the set, I believe I would have stopped after the first book, "Blue Coyote Motel." There were things I didn't care for, particularly the somewhat graphic sex scenes. Those seemed to escalate as the books progressed.Each book had a unique theme, but the main character, Maria, was the constant. Several other characters continued throughout to some degree, but not as significantly as Maria. (It took me till the second book to realize that she was the focus.) Each book dealt with a subject that might be worthy of thought, such as drug addiction, aging, helping others, priests & young boys, the fine line between doing right and breaking the law. In that sense, I felt this effort was ambitious - in a good way. I suppose the sex seemed appropriate as it related to some of these issues, but, to me, it seemed gratuitous.Several times I was struck by the stilted writing. It seemed more like a nonfiction work describing the scenes rather than a work of fiction.As another reviewer observed, the end of the book is a teaser for "The Best Book on Money and Success That'll Take You to the Top," a book that Dianne Harman apparently enjoyed. This same teaser has been at the end of every Dianne Harman book I've read and, to be honest, it's getting old.All things considered, I think this will probably be the last book I read by Dianne Harman.
